Sundae Funday - Virtual Sundaes for a good cause
Save the Children Canada has been working to better the lives of children in Canada and around the world since 1921. Focusing on health, nutrition, HIV/AIDS, education, and food security, among other concerns, Save the Children Canada works as part of the 29-member Save the Children International to fundraise and run programs locally and internationally. 82% of all monies raised goes directly into programming. In Canada, their particular focus is on aboriginal children.
From now until July 16, Frigidaire is supporting Save the Children Canada with their Sundae Funday initiative. All kids love sundaes, right? So this is very appropriate. To participate, just visit sundaefunday.ca and create your own virtual sundae, that you can share with friends. For every virtual sundae created, Frigidaire will donate $1, up to a maximum of $25,000. As of today, June 6, they have already donated over $17,000. Frigidaire is also putting out a challenge to Canadians to host their own fundraising sundae making parties. A Party Kit is available to download from the website, including printable invitations. The idea is simple - invite a bunch of friends over, supply lots of ice cream and your favourite toppings, and have fun making and eating yummy sundaes. Frigidaire suggests requesting a minimum donation of $5 per sundae made, which you can then easily donate through the Sundae Funday website.
The website also has printable colouring pages (of sundaes of course) and recipes for sundae toppings. Go and take a look. Little Boo has made a couple of these virtual sundaes now, and he thinks it's pretty fun to do. Of course, he usually wants some ice cream afterwards, so be prepared if you show this to your wee ones.
