Schneider's Picnic Anywhere!

I recently attended a great event to celebrate the launch of the Schneider's Picnic Anywhere travelling roadshow, as well as the launch of their new Country Naturals line (yummy!) and a fabulous community contest (more on that below).

The Picnic Anywhere Mobile Tour is travelling across the country this summer, visiting various festivals and events with their picnic on wheels.

OK, so that is a giant over-sized picnic basket filled with artificial food, but, believe me, the food they will be serving is anything but artificial.  The tour is highlighting both the simple joys of picnicking and how truly easy it is to find a great spot to set one up, as well as promoting the new Country Naturals line of hot dogs, ham, bacon, and sandwich meats.  These products are the first and only prepared deli meats approved by Health Canada to claim all natural ingredients. You can pronounce them all!

It's truly refreshing to be able to enjoy a hot dog or a pound slice of bacon without worrying about all the chemicals and nitrites you're putting in your or your kids' bodies.

This was dinner for me and Little Boo the other night, paired with some watermelon and a little green salad (from my garden).  The hot dogs taste great, with no aftertaste. They have a great consistency (with that little bit of juiciness you'd expect from a great dog).  And I felt good feeding this to my little guy, knowing there are no artificial preservatives or flavours. The ingredient list:
Pork, Water, Sea Salt, Vinegar, Cane Sugar, Cultured Celery extract, Spice, Dehydrated Garlic, Smoke

Sounds perfect to me.  This same commitment to natural ingredients holds through the entire line, making them safe and tasty options for your family as well!

Remember that I mentioned a community contest? Well, Schneider's is encouraging us to get outdoors and enjoy nature, by sponsoring a contest to provide $100,000 towards a revitalisation of a local community park or playground. You can help create the ultimate picnic spot in your own community!  Entries are being accepted until August 5, 2011. A panel of judges will then decide on a group of 5 finalists, who will be invited to submit a video proposal. The winning project will be selected after the contest ends on September 28. For full details, please visit Schneider's Picnic Anywhere on Facebook.

Disclosure: I attended this event and received a gift of product coupons and picnic items, as a member of the Maple Leaf Connects program.  All opinions expressed in this post are my own, and I was not required or asked to write a post about my experience.
