I'm Making the Switch!

How are your teeth doing? What about your gums? No, really. Have you thought about your oral health lately? I think about mine mostly just before I head in for my regularly scheduled dental check-up and cleaning. (Sound familiar?) And at that cleaning, the hygienist invariably tells me that I have a lot of plaque & tartar buildup on the back of my teeth. And my dentist will comment that although my gums are still basically healthy, he can see some bleeding and some areas where the gums are receding.

Then they ask me if I've ever tried an electric toothbrush.

Well, I'm going to do it. I am making the switch to a power toothbrush - the most advanced power toothbrush currently on the market. It's the Philips Sonicare Flexcare+. With 5 power levels, this rechargeable brush is specially designed to clean both your teeth and gums, encouraging overall oral health. The angled brush head neck is a feature I'm particularly interested in, as it will make reaching the back teeth easier, and hopefully will allow me to get rid of more plaque.
The charge on the brush sounds pretty amazing too. The fully charged brush should last for three full weeks! I have it set up on the charging base now, as I write. I am planning on bringing it with me on my 2 week vacation, and hope to not have to charge it til after I get home. But, if I do need a new charge - the Flexcare+ actually came with a travel charger that I can easily bring along, just in case. (Not to mention a travel case.)

There's so much about this system to get me excited. The charging base even comes equipped with a UV brush head sanitizer, to keep the brush heads (two sizes for different cleaning duties) super clean between brushings. I'm definitely looking forward to trying this out. My big hope is to see (and feel) an improvement on the tartar situation on the back of my teeth. I am also hoping to see some improvement in my gums and the bleeding issues I sometimes face.

I'll test this out for 2 weeks and then will will be back with a follow-up post to let you know how it went. Hubs is also pretty happy to have received this brush, and we'll be getting him his own set of brush heads so he can try too.
