I may be away in Newfoundland, but I want to share some info with my readers back in the GTA about an annual event happening this weekend in Scarborough. I am pretty sad to miss it actually - the Scarborough Rotary Ribfest.
This event starts today and runs through the holiday Monday, August 1. It takes place at Thompson Memorial Park, corner of Lawrence E and Brimley.
Ten different ribbers will be present, showing off their wares and competing for various prizes. Saucy, juicy, meaty goodness! I haven't had any bad ribs here over the years, but I think Thirsty Cactus might be my fave of those who attend. A variety of other food vendors attend as well, serving up roasted corn, ice cream, fries and Tiny Tom Donuts, etc., etc. Oh! And this is a licensed event, so you can grab a draft beer to accompany your rack of ribs.
Karaoke competitions and musical entertainment daily. Plus a midway and various retailers.
This is a great family event during the daytime hours and becomes a fun, tasty grown-up event in the evenings. Musical acts run til the 11:00pm closing. Admission & parking are free!
