Sobeys Sensations Burgers - Review & Giveaway

I'm a summer girl. It's my season. I practically live on my deck, and I make sure that Hubs fires up the BBQ at least 3 or 4 times a week. (Who am I kidding? We BBQ all year 'round, just even more so in the summer). This weekend has been really hot and humid and just gorgeous for cooking and eating outdoors. Easy summer meals with no stove involved are where I'm at. So, I was delighted to have the opportunity to try out some new burgers from Sobeys' Sensations by Compliments line. The selection of 100% pure beef burgers was pretty awesome - Prime Rib, Angus, Sirloin, Mesquite BBQ, Cheddar & Bacon, Three Cheese, Peppercorn & Garlic, and Korean-Style. And they also have lighter options in the Compliments Balance line - Extra Lean Chicken, and Wild Pacific Salmon. Yum! But, in a house full of boys, needless to say we went all beef.

It was actually pretty hard to choose from all the options, but I went with the Prime Rib and the Cheddar & Bacon. I picked up the Sensations deluxe sesame seed buns as well, and rounded out the Sobeys experience with Compliments drinks. I have always loved their Sparkling Lemonade. Sweet & fizzy and really refreshing. The tangerine & lime sparkling water was really tasty as well. Great, refreshing cold drinks for a hot day.

Check out these babies on the BBQ. Little Boo had the Prime Rib with cheese added. The rest of us went for the Cheddar & Bacon. Hubs & the Teen did the cooking, so I asked them how these compared on the grill to other name brands we've tried. They were happy with the performance - even grilling, not too much grease.

Little Boo's plate. All buns are a little much for him, so I always tear off the edges. He ate like a champ, and really seemed to enjoy his burger.
Mommy's plate. This was such an easy meal, and perfect for a hot day. Just top the BBQ burger with some lettuce, tomato, whatever condiments you like, then pair it with some fresh fruit. Filling and healthy, without being overwhelming in the summer heat.

The Teen ate three Cheddar & Bacon burgers. Then he finished off the last bit of Little Boo's Prime Rib. Good til the last bite ....

Overall, we really enjoyed these burgers. The Prime Rib had a great rich flavour (yes, I stole a taste). The Cheddar & Bacon was a subtle taste. You could taste the cheese & bacon, but it wasn't in your face. I think the Teen would be happy to add some extra bacon to the top.  The burgers were moist and flavourful, the buns soft and delicious. Budget friendly, as Compliments products tend to be, these definitely measure up well with other burgers we've tried.  I am looking forward to trying the Korean BBQ burgers next!
