Have you seen the new Coke tins? Gone is the traditional red. This holiday season, Coca-Cola has gone white in honour of the polar bear and habitat conservation.
The "Arctic Home" campaign is in partnership with the World Wildlife Fund and aims to raise both awareness and funds to support WWF's efforts to protect the polar bear's northern habitat. Almost 2/3 of the world's polar bear population is Canadian, and the polar bear has been the holiday symbol for Coke since 1993, so this is a great match for Coca-Cola Canada.
Coke will donate $2 million to WWF over the next five years. Through the Arctic Home campaign, they will match public donations up to $1 million through March 15, 2012. You can make a donation towards the WWF's conservation work at iCoke.ca. The site also contains video chats with WWF scientists, plus you can track virtual polar bear sightings, aiming to provide education and awareness. The Coca-Cola blog also features a piece on polar bear facts that you will find interesting.
