Do you see what that is? Just to be clear, it is a parking receipt. Timestamped 8:38am, and sitting OUTSIDE my car's windshield, under the wiper.
How did this happen, you ask?
Well, it is firstly a direct result of my inability to function before 8am. I drove our second car to work because I had an early meeting. Our second car is rarely used, and it does not have a parking pass for our garage at work. Did I remember that little fact? Well, yes, I did. For most of the drive down. But by the time I pulled into the garage and parked in our usual spot? Not so much.
A half hour or so later, Hubs pulled in a few spots down, in our usual car. (You know, the one actually with the parking permit.) As he walked by he noticed the old car. With no parking receipt.
So, naturally, he went and paid for my parking. But he had no keys for that car. So he hesitated briefly, then placed the receipt under the wiper and called to leave me a message. (He may have sounded a little exasperated with me. Maybe.)
Unbelievably, by the time I got his message and got to the car more than 3 hours later, the receipt was still there.
No one took that precious piece of paper, worth $14 and parking til 10pm.
Maybe they were tempted. Maybe no one noticed it.
I choose to take this as a sign that people are good. Honesty and goodness. That is the lesson I'm taking from this.
That and I have to pay more attention in the mornings. No matter how tired I am.
