Growing up, our decorations were generally hung on existing hooks, or over lights, or stuck up with tape or even small nails. But there are a lot better options these days, that won't leave holes in your walls or rip off your paint, leaving sticky stuff behind.
Command Brand sent over an assortment of hooks for me to try, and I am impressed with the variety available. The hooks come in different colours, sizes, and materials so can choose the one to best suit your particular project.
I was most excited by this little guy:
The small wire hook was PERFECT for hanging my mistletoe, which I have never before been able to keep in place in my doorway. This year? It is hanging firm and has been put to great use, by Little Boo. (He loves his kisses!) The utensil hook base stuck firmly to my door frame, and the metal hook itself rotates down to hold the ribbon on the mistletoe.
On my front door, I've used the Large Outdoor Wreath Hook to hang my homemade (and fairly heavy, since it's real branches) wreath. I love that it is cleverly made in green, so as not to show through the boughs, and that it won't leave a mark on my metal door come January. I have always used an over-the-door wreath hook before, but I am really preferring the look of the free-hanging wreath.

I have used Command hooks in the past for a variety of purposes, including using the plain white plastic hooks in my kitchen for hanging up my aprons and oven mitts. I have never had a problem with the hooks coming loose, and have always found removal pain- and mess-free.
