From Farm to Table

kettle corn

Last week when I talked to you about the Ontario Table Holiday Challenge, I promised you a giveaway, and I never go back on my word. So here goes!

The giveaway package includes a case of 16 bags of Ontario popcorn, from From Farm to Table, plus a signed copy of the gorgeous Ontario Table Cookbook by Lynn Ogryzlo.

I've been snacking on this popcorn for the last week or so, and it is yum. From Farm to Table is located in Cambridge, ON, and uses only local (within 100km), non-GMO, pesticide free corn in their popcorn. Their popcorn is certified nut free and gluten free. They have both snack and sharing sizes, in a variety of flavours, including white cheddar, dill pickle, butter & salt, and more. I am partial to the dill pickle flavour myself. Little Boo liked it as well, which I wouldn't have predicted, but the flavours aren't too strong or overpowering. I even liked the Kettle Corn, which I generally won't eat. This one really reminds me of  caramel corn, but not sickly sweet.

The Ontario Table cookbook is another local treat. It so much more than a collection of recipes. Gorgeous photography on high gloss pages. Information on growers, regions, and festivals around the province (over 100 stories!) Ontario wine pairings. Twenty stories of culinary tourism destinations around Ontario. I would absolutely include this in the category of coffee table book, to be browsed, enjoyed, and shared with friends. One of my favourite features of this book is the information provided on how to shop local - where to buy, what products are produced locally in Ontario, along with some suggestions of specific producers. Lynn also includes the Foodland Ontario availability guide for Ontario fruits and vegetables, to help you know what's in season when. Buying local and in-season is the best way to ensure really fresh produce on your table with the best taste possible.
