Just a few short months ago I was telling you about the big re-release of Finding Nemo in a new 3D format. That hit theatres in mid-September for viewing on the big screen. Today it has hit the shelves of fine retailers near you (or near your computer) perfectly timed for holiday gifting and viewing on your (possibly quite large) screen at home.
“Finding Nemo,” first released in theaters in 2003, earned the Oscar® for Best Animated Feature Film and remains the fifth highest grossing animated film worldwide. In 2008, the American Film Institute named “Finding Nemo” among the top 10 greatest animated films ever made, and it is the second highest grossing Pixar film to date (behind “Toy Story 3”).
The Blu-ray 2D and 3D debuts mark the first time “Finding Nemo” has ever been available in these hi-def formats. Featuring pristine high definition picture and sound, the Blu-ray creates an incredible at-home experience with a host of interactive features and bonus features including 3D Virtual Aquariums, 2D Virtual Aquariums, CineExplore, A Filmmakers’ Roundtable and more.
My TakeI remember when we first got our HD TV, I was complaining to my husband that I didn't understand why we needed it, and I couldn't see the big difference. Well, "Finding Nemo" on DVD was the movie that changed my mind about that. On the new TV I could actually see Nemo's individual scales! And this new version is even better. The detail in the images, the textures, the colours, all are really outstanding. Of course the story is still the same wonderful tale of a father's love for his child, family conflicts, friendship, and adventure at sea.
This new release of "Finding Nemo" is available in a variety of formats, including both 2D and 3D versions. Of course, you will need a 3D TV & BluRay player to use the 3D disc, but the 2D visuals gorgeous and detailed as well.
This is a great family film and would make a fabulous gift this holiday season. Take a great film with stunning visuals and cuddle up with the family to make some memories on a cold winter's afternoon.
