Still looking for a great holiday gift for the tea or coffee lover in your life? Hamilton Beach has many great options, and I'm going to share two of them with you, that I've recently tried out myself.
First off, The Scoop (MSRP $69.99). This is a single-serve coffee maker without the pods or discs. The sleek and compact machine comes with two individual filter scoops. It has a capacity for up to 14 oz, and a reversible shelf to hold tall or short mugs. What I like about this? - You always have fresh water for your brew, as you fill the reservoir with water from the mug or cup you'll be brewing into.
- You use your own coffee that you use in your regular brewer, so no need to buy special pods or discs.
- Less waste! I do have another single-serve maker, and I have loved it for years (full disclosure). BUT. I have always felt guilt about the plastic waste involved in brewing my morning cup. The Scoop is a great option for the environment - no plastic to throw away, and a permanent filter.
This is also available in a combo model that includes the single-serve brewer plus a 12-cup carafe (MSRP $89.99).
Next, a special treat for Hubs. The 2 Quart Iced Coffee Maker (MSRP $39.99). This comes with two different baskets - one for coffee and one for tea. The tea basket has an adjustable ring on the bottom for three brewing strengths. Hubs is a huge iced tea fan, so I've made a couple of pots for him already. Add ice to the pitcher up to the fill line, add loose leaves or tea bags to the filter basket (use a paper filter for loose tea), then fill the reservoir with cold water, place over the pitcher and cover. Brew! I'm looking forward to next summer when I can pick some fresh mint from my garden to add to the tea basket during brewing. We use the strongest brew strength and the taste is fabulous and full.
For iced coffee the concept is exactly the same, but using the basket designed for coffee grounds. Once you have finished brewing, you serve straight from the pitcher, or place on the lid and store the brewed pitcher in your fridge for later use. The system brews up to 2 L of iced beverages.
The Iced Coffee Maker comes with 5 recipes for delicious iced coffee drinks you'd be proud to serve to guests. At this time of year, with so much entertaining going on, an iced coffee beverage (with or without added spirits) would be a refreshing change from the usual fare. And here's a bonus recipe I was sent with my review product:
Sounds yummy, doesn't it?
Best of luck!!
