Going Back to School in Style with Hilroy #BTS

The year was 1980. The scene, summer vacation at my cousin's house. And what were we doing? Shopping for back to school.

Yep. I've always been a sucker for a pretty folder or scented eraser. I love school supplies! I love them so much that I have to actively restrain myself from going out and buying one of everything of all those amazing pens and pencils that begin to arrive on store shelves sometime about a week after the kids get out of school in June.

So, I wait. I wait until the new school year starts, and I wait until a teacher tells me exactly what it is they want my child to have. Because, there can be a lot of very specific things on those lists.

But, there's also a lot of room for choice and personal expression. And whether you have a wee one in love with cute kittens, a young fashionista, or an environmental warrior, Hilroy has a line of back to school products that will suit their style.

Just check out the variety in their pencil cases alone:
There are lots of options in terms of style and design, and this collage doesn't even picture all of them. I received a recycled pencil case from the Enviro line, in the mushroom print. It's a great size, not too big, not too small, and it's made from 50% recycled PET materials (water bottles). Cool. hey? The line also offers binders and notebooks. These are a great option, both for our Earth, and for the eco-conscious kids in our lives.

Little Boo is just in grade 2, so he doesn't need a lot of gear, but older kids certainly do. I'm honestly looking forward to needing to buy binders and report folders and such. The Teen is off to college & he is really at a stage where the tech products are the main consideration. That, and a good backpack.

Hilroy's Five Star Ergo backpack is impressive, as its smart design re-distributes the weight of the pack more evenly, avoiding back and neck strain. The straps are padded and attach close to the front of the pack. This one even has a headphone port so kids can enjoy their tunes on the bus ride or walk to school. (Just be sure if they're walking that they keep one ear free to listen to traffic!)

There's also the tech considerations. Five Star has a line of tech binders designed to carry and protect your e-reader or tablet on the go. The padded Tech Binder has an exterior neoprene pocket that zips open for easy and convenient on-the-go use of your device, while the interior pocket offers extra storage and a durable handle for easy transportation. You can add in a multi-purpose storage pouch to handle your power cords and adapters as well.

A final suggestion - I don't know about you, but I know my binders and notebooks were always covered with scribbles, drawings, notes from friends, the names of cute boys, you know, that sort of thing. But what happens when the cute boy is no longer cute (to you)? Or you no longer love your used-to-be favourite band? Back in the day there wasn't much you could do except scribble over the evidence. But, with Hilroy's Zwipes, you can write & doodle to your heart's content, secure in the knowledge that you can erase any or all of it later!
Zwipes come in binders, notebooks and dividers, accompanied by a special 2-ended marker. Whatever you write on the Zwipes surface is permanent - it won't smudge or bleed. That is, until you neutralise the ink with the other end of the pen, leaving it ready to be wiped off with the included special eraser.  I've tested this, and it works! Gosh I wish I'd had these in high school!

This barely scratches the surface of what's available. For a look at the full line-up, along with info on where to buy, please visit them at Hilroy.ca.

Disclosure: I was not financially compensated for this post. I did receive complimentary product for review. All opinions on this blog, as always, remain my own.
