Canadian Tire Sticks Up for Hockey Safety {Giveaway}

There's always controversy brewing around violence and injuries in our beloved sport of hockey, whether it's about fights on the ice in the NHL, body checking in children's hockey, or the dangers of concussion in our youth players. We are clearly concerned to keep our children safe and provide strong examples of good sportsmanship as well. Hockey Canada's board of directors overwhelmingly voted to eliminate bodychecking for peewee players at its annual general meeting in May of this year, and a team of neuroscience researchers in BC launched a five-year study of sports-related concussions in youth this past August.

But even without checking, zipping around on the hard ice with those sharp blades and active sticks raises its own dangers, and the possibility of injury on the ice is very real. But, that isn't a reason to stop our kids from enjoying this most Canadian of winter sports. We just need to ensure that they are wearing the proper safety equipment to keep them protected. And this becomes even more important as our little ones grow and become stronger and faster players.

Canadian Tire is encouraging Canadians to stick up for safety this winter season with some new and innovative safety products, including the Bauer JT19 Premium Protective Kit for our young hockey players. With this all-in-one protective kit, the process has never been easier or more affordable. One box, and you've got everything aside from the helmet and skates!

This Bauer Premium Protective Kit includes: shin guards, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, pants and a carry bag, and is available in sizes: S-L. With a retail price of just $129.99, this is a great deal for the full protection package.
