Tis the season for Christmas specials! I'm very happy to share with you two classic Disney holiday favourites, now available on Blu-Ray and Digital Download for your viewing pleasure this holiday season. These titles would make wonderful gifts for the little ones on your list.
Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year has been a favourite in our family for many years. That this release is called the "Gift of Friendship Edition" is really perfect as the story really is about the importance of friendship in our lives. It's a great family movie for the holiday season, with excellent messages for the kids focused on both Christmas and New Years. The special features are also fun, including an option to display the lyrics to the songs so you can sing along while you watch. And there's a feature much like the fireplace channel idea, where you can play a Christmas scene, with roaring fire, falling snow, music and/or sound effects as background to your own festivities.
This new Gift of Friendship edition comes with a special letter to Santa kit, with stickers and a Winnie the Pooh pen included. These cute little cards will make the letter writing super easy this year if you pick up the disc in advance. Or save for next year's letters.
Also released this month is the 30th Anniversary Edition of Mickey's Christmas Carol. Another heart-warming classic featuring favourite Disney characters playing the traditional roles. This is a great introduction to Dickens' original tale. Boo was actually a little disappointed that this isn't a full-length feature, as he was really enjoying the story, but he brightened up when he realised there are 5 more restored holiday shorts on the disc, plus some all-new special features. Christmas sing-a-long with Mickey, anyone? I was happy to see that Pluto's Christmas Tree is included. Chip N Dale are always adorable and watching Pluto's vain attempts to alert Mickey to their presence in the newly cut tree is hilarious.
Disclosure: I received complimentary copies of these discs to enjoy with my family for consideration for my gift guide. No other compensation was received. All opinions on this blog, as always, remain my own.
