Chelsea Home Light Flurries Projector from Canadian Tire {Review & Giveaway}

One of my favourite memories of Christmas is driving around as a family, looking at all the Christmas lights on the neighbourhood houses. Some folks kept it pretty simple, with a single row of lights along the eaves. Others went all out, framing all the windows and placing various light-up creatures on their lawns. These days all those beautiful lights are often joined by inflatable Santas and snowmen and the ever popular grapevine deer. Boo and I actually took some time last night on the way home from karate to explore our own neighbourhood. We saw some gorgeous displays.

I don't know about you, but I find the outdoor decorations always look that much better when they're surrounded by snow. And during a snowfall, the displays are magical. So wouldn't it be fun if you could be guaranteed a snowfall every night? Especially one that didn't result in the need to shovel?

Canadian Tire has just the thing - the Chelsea Home Light Flurries Projector. This device is essentially a rotating disco ball and light source. You set it up on your lawn, direct the light onto the ball, and a magical display of softly falling (light) snowflakes project onto your home. I received one of these projectors this afternoon, set it up in about 5 minutes, and was impressed with the display. It was a great addition to our existing eave lights and inflatables. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get a good picture that would do it justice, so instead I want to share this video with you.

Pretty neat, hey? The projector is beyond easy to set up. You do need to fiddle a bit to find the best location and angle once you get it outside, especially if there's already uneven snow on the ground, but the process was still straight-forward. There is a dial that lets you control the rotation speed, and you can get different effects by placing the projector are different distances from your house.

Bonus, the housing for the projector doubles as a storage case for the system. It's rigid and tough for safe storage.

Here are the official specs for the system:
  • Light Flurries Projector will create the illusion of falling snow on your home in varied snowflake sizes
  • Suitable for outdoor use
  • Variable speed control
  • 12V LED spot lamp included
  • 91" (231 cm) cord length
