Hasbro's Spider-Man 2 Toy Line - Tons of Web-Slinging Fun {Review}

As a mom of boys, I have lots of experience with superheroes. Action, adventure, and intrigue have all been important parts of my guys' pretend play, and we've collected quite a few superhero accessories along the way. When I asked Boo if he'd be interested in helping me test out and review a couple of items from Hasbro's new line of toys released for the opening of the "Spider-Man 2" movie, he was pretty excited. Especially when he saw the Mega Blaster Web Shooter. Shooting actual webs like Spider-Man? Super cool!

Marvel the Amazing Spider-Man 2 Mega Blaster Web Shooter with Glove
Not wearing the glove here,
but you get the idea.
This set comes with a glove that looks just like it came from Spider-Man's costume. Add the Mega Blaster
Web Shooter and you'll feel like the real deal! You have the option to use a canister of Spidey Shot Web Fluid, or a water cartridge, either of which you activate with your two middle fingers, just like Spidey.

This was a really fun, cool toy, and Boo quickly covered our back yard with "webs." The web fluid shoots quite far, the water cartridge not so far, but still impressive. I found that the web fluid strings are really easy to clean up, if you do it within the first hour or so. The strings I left in the yard dried up and started to fall apart the next day, but initially it all picked up in single, long strands. Mom approved!

The one difficulty we did have was with the initial installation of the web fluid cartridge. It was a little tricky to get the trigger mechanism snapped on without spraying out the webs. This may have been because it was so new. You have to get the mechanism on very straight and it required a fair bit of strength, at least this first time.

Marvel The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Spider Strike 3.75" Figures Assortment
We also checked out one of these figures. We received the version with the "blitz board."  The figure has articulated arms and legs, with a magnet in his right foot. His left foot attaches to a small peg on the hoverboard, and when his magnetic right foot hovers over the sensor, the two yellow pieces snap out, representing a hypersonic attack on his enemies.  This is a fun addition to any Spidey collection for lots of imaginative play scenarios.

The assortment includes three different Spider-Man figures and one Electro, each with a different accessory.

Do you have a Spider-Man fan in your family? Be sure to check out this new collection of toys from Hasbro, offering lots of lots of room for creative story-telling and play.
