We will be participating on the first day of the build in Scarborough, Monday, September 15. This is a full day commitment, from 7:30am-4:00pm, and the build site is at Brimley and Lawrence.
Know what's awesome? You don't need any experience to be able to participate. The crew leaders will teach you what you need to know and will assign tasks appropriate to your skill level. All tools and safety equipment are provided. Even safety boots! All you need to bring along is your enthusiasm and a great attitude. You may also want to wear something you don't mind getting dirty. Like, real dirty. Just in case.

As our team is sponsored by P&G, team members will not be required to raise the usual minimum of $500 each. However, I am asking that all of my team members do at least some fundraising, without the stress of having to meet a minimum level. Let's see how much we can bring in for this worthy cause!
This year's GTA Women Build has a goal of raising $1 Million and helping to build 33 simple and affordable homes, breaking the cycle of poverty for 33 families in need.
Here are some more images from my build last September at the Acme II site: WW - #WBTO w/linky. That was not a typical build day, due to the weather. But in spite of the rain and mud, my crew had an amazing time. The energy on the build site is so positive and uplifting. We all knew we were there doing something really important for local families in need.
When I got to attend the Key Dedication ceremony this week, I was so honoured to be able to meet the family now living in the home I helped to build. When their 12 year-old daughter came up to me to say a personal thank-you, my heart may have burst just a little. My contribution to their home was quite small in all honesty, but everyone who had a hand in the construction and fundraising played a crucial role in giving this lovely family a safe and welcoming place to call home. It meant a lot to me to see the real people benefiting from the work of Habitat and to experience the wonderful community among the partner families living in this development. That experience really brought it full circle and only served to deepen my commitment to this organisation.
|Aren't these homes lovely? They are even nicer on the inside. Habitat homes are quality, comfortable, and spacious.|
So, come join me!!! We will have an amazing day in support of an important cause! Unleash your inner Super Woman!
I know she's in there!
