I know what's on my agenda. Tomorrow, Friday, June 6, is the day fans have been waiting for. The second season of the Netflix original series, "Orange Is the New Black," will be released. The best part? Netflix original series come out all at once, so ALL episodes will be available for your binge watching pleasure. No need to wait a week to see what happens next. I've got to say that this approach to watching my favourite shows really appeals to me, and is part of the reason I have tended to be late to the game for some network series - I'd rather wait for a full season to be available before I begin.
And after that stunning ending to season one, I am also so ready for Round 2! Are you excited to see what happened? What's the fallout of the big fight? Who came out on top? Inquiring minds ...
Now, I do have to come clean. As a member of the Netflix #StreamTeam, I was invited to attend a preview event this past Monday in Toronto. I have already seen the first two episodes of season 2, and I'm more anxious than ever for the rest of them. I will not drop any spoilers, but just know that the first episode is eventful and a bit intense and full of suspense. If you're a fan of the show, you will love it! The second is also great, but is more set-up and background and less "Wow!" And that's totally cool.
If you haven't yet watched this series, I definitely recommend it. Friends had been raving about it since last fall, but I didn't actually check it out until I received the invitation to this week's event. I watched four episodes the first day. Hooked!
It is about life in a women's prison, and relationships, and differences, and adaptability, and learning about yourself and more. It's funny and poignant and it makes you think. The writing is impeccable, and the characters draw you in and make you care. It is also pretty graphic with lots of adult content, nudity, sexuality. language, so keep that in mind.
Anyway. I have debated staying up until midnight to see if the episodes are available then, but I think I need some sleep. So, I'll wait until morning. But then I have to ask myself - do I binge, or do I spread it out and enjoy the season over the course of a few days or a week? Hmmmmm ..... What would you do?
