This weekend, July 4-6, brings Scarborough's largest street festival to my neighbourhood. The Taste of Lawrence Festival takes over Lawrence Ave. East from Birchmount to Warden. Put on by the Wexford B.I.A., this annual festival celebrates the diverse cultures and food traditions of our city, and provides great entertainment for the whole family. Two stages present live musical acts throughout the weekend, while martial arts demos, soccer skill testing and more fill the street. Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing 70s band Lighthouse on Saturday night at 9:30. Their hit "Sunny Days" is one of my summertime favourites!
Boo is most excited by the midway. Rides and games of chance, as well as cotton candy and sno-cones are what bring him to the festival. Be sure to check out the Family Stage schedule as well. Saturday will include appearances and meet and greets with the Octonauts, as well as a Frozen interactive show with meet and greet.
Admission to the festival is free, but be sure to bring some cash for the rides, games, and food. The Festival is open 11am-11pm on Saturday, and 11am-6pm Sunday.
