Join Me in the #CleanWater Photo Challenge #PGMom

Every morning I fill the coffee pot, brush my teeth, wash my face and the face of my child. All with water straight from the tap. During the day I refill my water cup, again and again, from the tap. And I think nothing of it. We fill the blow-up pool or swim in a pond or head to the splash pad to cool off. And never question our safety. Because clean water is a given for us in Canada, and it plays a huge role in our daily lives. But not everyone around the world is so lucky.

According to the World Health Organisation, approximately one billion people in the developing world do not have this same luxury, and diseases from contaminated water are killing more children every day than HIV/AIDS and malaria combined. The P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water (CSDW) Program helps provide clean drinking water to people in need through a water purifying technology developed by P&G. One small P&G purification packet quickly turns 10 litres of dirty, potentially deadly water into clean, drinkable water. To date, more than seven billion litres of clean drinking water have been provided by humanitarian organizations across the globe using P&G packets, helping to save an estimated 39,000 lives in more than 75 countries.

Back in April I told you about the #Cleanwater partnership between Walmart Canada and P&G. Based on sales that month, P&G donated 8.6 million days of clean water to the CSDW! Since May 1, more than 20 P&G products, including Tide, Pampers, Duracell, Dawn and Pantene have continued to generate these donations. And now, to help bring the program even closer to its goal of donating 25 million litres of water in a 12 month-period, P&G and Walmart will once again open the program up to include every P&G product from July 16-31, 2014. Your participation can help reach this goal!

#CleanWater Photo Challenge

As a P&G Mom, I've signed on to take part in a two-week #cleanwater photo challenge, to help remind us all of the importance of clean water in our lives. You'll see me instagramming and tweeting daily photos based on the prompts in the graphic below. Want to join me?

From July 18 through 31, P&G and Walmart want you to share photos of the role clean water plays in your life and the life of your family and friends.  To participate, just tweet photos using the daily prompts provided. Be sure to include the hashtag #cleanwater and the daily prompt in your tweet (e.g., #thirst #cleanwater for July 18).

Think about what the prompt means to you - do you want a picture of the tall glass of cool water that will quench your thirst? Or maybe the happy face of your child after having the drink? Maybe it's your panting, thirsty dog. Be creative and have fun with it!

At the end of the challenge, one lucky Canadian participant will be chosen to receive a $250 Walmart gift card, along with a P&G gift pack. You don't need to share a photo for every prompt to be eligible to win - each share is an entry.
Winner will be chosen randomly from all entries received.

You can follow along with the hashtag or check out the #cleanwater Pinterest board to see what others are sharing as well. The Pinterest board will collect together a selection of the shared photos to show the world how lucky we are in Canada to have this abundance of such an important resource.

Let me know in the comments if you are participating, so I can watch for your images.

Have fun! And good luck!

Disclosure: I am a P&Gmom. As part of my affiliation with this group, I have been offered compensation to participate in the #cleanwater photo challenge. The views, opinions and photographs expressed on this blog and in my social networks, as always, remain my own.
