Give Back this Holiday with Habitat's Gingerbread Build {giveaway}

The holidays are a time for giving and giving back to our communities. If you are in the GTA and looking for a fun way to get your kids involved in some charitable work this year, I highly recommend the Habitat for Humanity GTA's Gingerbread Build, happening December 6 & 7 at the Ontario Science Centre.

The big event will include a lot of family fun, prizes, and a visit from Santa too. Gingerbread house kits cost $50 each and include everything you need to decorate an awesome and edible house to take home. Each $50 kit comes with a $25 tax receipt. Note: Ontario Science Centre admission tickets are not required for this event, but a 20% discount is provided to those wishing to visit the exhibits. Free parking is provided for the Gingerbread Build. To visit other sections of the OSC, you are required to move your vehicle to the paid parking lot at a discounted Habitat rate of $5.

Not able to attend that weekend? You can order a take-away kit to make your gingerbread creation at home (pick up at one of Habitat GTA's offices - Brampton Caledon, Newmarket or East Toronto), or purchase a kit to be sent to a family living in a local shelter this holiday season. What a great way to spread a little joy! Check out the Gingerbread Build website for all the details.

I love this event because building gingerbread houses is such a fun holiday activity for kids and grown-ups, and this is a wonderful thing to enjoy together as a family. Boo is too young to join me on an actual Habitat build site (you have to be 16), but he can help me help others by building one of these houses. 100% of proceeds from the Gingerbread Build go to building homes for families in need in the GTA.

In 2013, there were more than 2500 participants and over 1,200 gingerbread house kits sold! I think we can beat that this year, don't you?

I'm also proud, as a P&G Mom, to let you know that Bounty is the presenting sponsor of this build. All that gooey icing and sticky candy will put Bounty to the test I am sure, but I know it will pass with flying colours. My Bounty towels get a workout around here with all the baking and cooking and crafting that get done leading up to the holidays!

The crew at Bounty wants to share some holiday joy by inviting one of my readers, and their family, to join us at the Gingerbread Build on Sunday, December 7, at 1:30pm. The event, as noted above, is taking place at the Ontario Science Centre, 770 Don Mills Rd., Toronto. Are you available? Want to come? Entries are via the Rafflecopter widget below and will be accepted until 12:00 midnight EST, November 30. Open to Canadian residents only, who are available to attend the event as described. Boo and I will be there in our Santa hats and look forward to welcoming you!

Best of luck!
