HGG2014: Getting Creative with Beados Quick Dry Design Station {giveaway}

The time has come, the walrus said, to talk of many things ....
Many awesome gift-y things that is! Welcome to the launch of our annual Holiday Gift Guide! Over the next few weeks I'll be sharing with you some of our favourite products that would be great for gifting to kids, moms, dads, grandparents, whomever! I hope you find inspiration and that this series will help make your holiday season a little less stressful

The first product I want to introduce is one that Boo tested out earlier this fall. I wanted to hold it for this Gift Guide though, as it would be an excellent choice for the crafty kid on your list.

Beados is a system where you create a two-dimensional design using small beads, spray them lightly with water, and as they dry they join together. The tagline is, "Make, Spray, Display," and that's really how easy it is. Although I would add "Play" as an option for the third point as well.

Boo tested out the Beados Quick Dry Design Station. This set is an all-in-one option that includes everything you need to start creating. The set comes with 500 beads, 2 design trays, 6 design templates, spray bottle, tweezer pen, display stand, and more. The highlight of the set is the quick dry fan, which dries your Beados creations in the half the time as compared to air drying. I think Boo also just liked that bit of added tech.

His first project was to make a race car for his friend, to add to his birthday gift. The bead storage tray allows you to organise your colours and have everything close to hand. The tweezer pen aids in picking up the tiny beads and placing them accurately into the depressions on the design tray. The process is super easy - you just place the template you want underneath the tray and then follow the colour pattern to complete your design. Slide the completed project under the fan and allow to dry.
Placing the beads. Please ignore the filthy fingernails. Boys!

This is a craft activity that involves no mess, no glue guns, no cutting. Kids can practice fine motor skills in picking up and placing the beads, can learn to follow patterns, or get crazy creative and design a Beados display of their own. Creativity, fun, and some developmental skills all in one.

Beados are available in a variety of themed packs with different templates or basic packs of refill beads. You can pick up the Beados Starter Pack with 400 beads and no fan for basic air drying, or a themed Activity Pack with scene cards and play mats. Beados are recommended for ages 5 and up and would be great for school-aged girls and crafty boys (like mine!) You can connect with the Beados brand on Facebook.
