Help #PowerSmiles this Holiday Season with Duracell #PGMom {Giveaway}

I don't think I've ever met anyone who looks forward to a hospital stay. Hospitals can be scary places, and it's never easy to be away from the comfort of the ones you love when you're ill. Just imagine how much harder a hospital stay can be for a child, particularly around the holidays.

Children's hospitals do their best to make their young patients' stays as comfortable as possible, but they can only do so much, and the help of external organisations and private donors go a long way towards making a difficult situation a bit more bearable for these children and their families. That's why I'm proud to support Duracell, who will again this year be donating a year’s supply of batteries to children's hospitals across Canada. These batteries will be used to power the thousands of playroom toys and games that children and their families will be enjoying this holiday season and beyond.

In addition, for each pack of Duracell Quantum and CopperTop batteries that Canadians purchase at Walmart from December 1st to December 31st, 2014, Duracell will donate 20 cents to the Children’s Miracle Network, with a goal to raise $150,000. To learn more about the campaign you can follow @Duracell on Twitter.

You're going to need batteries this season, whether it's for toys under the tree or to power your flashlights and radios for those inevitable power outages to come before winter is through. Why not choose Duracell and help them power smiles for hospitalised kids across Canada?

Hasbro and Duracell have a strong relationship of giving together. I was delighted to be able to attend an event last year at the Hospital for Sick Children, where Hasbro and Duracell donated a huge load of toys and the batteries to power them. They also sent over a Furby Boom for Boo to enjoy and review last Christmas. This year they've sent us a Simon Swipe, which is giving me wonderful flashbacks to my childhood, but with several updated twists.

This is still the classic memory game, where you must follow and repeat the pattern of flashing lights. But the 2014 version has 4 game modes, including Classic Simon and an updated version where the patterns include not just tapping the lights, but swiping them. Tap when you see one light, swipe when there are two, and swipe and reverse when the lights move clockwise and then go back. There are 16 levels of play and a competitive mode, and of course the game gets more difficult the longer you play. Boo is a little obsessed with upping his score. It gets pretty challenging!
