HGG2014: Gifts that Give Back: OSPCA Paws & Give

The holiday season is the season of giving and of giving back, and many charitable organisations have programs in place to allow you to do some extra good, while also remembering the special folks on your gift list. Whether purchasing a physical item to give, or honouring your gift recipient while buying an item on the organisation's list of needs, there are plenty of options to meet anyone's giving profile. I'll be highlighting a few of my favourites over the next few days.

For the animal lover on your list, why not consider the Ontario SPCA's Paws & Give 2014 catalogue? Proceeds from the sales go directly to the OSPCA’s efforts to prevent cruelty to animals and promote animal welfare. Current programs and services include investigations, adoptions, advocacy, wildlife care and rehabilitation and violence prevention. By purchasing a gift from Paws & Give™, your donation directly assists these programs and animal welfare across Ontario.

The catalogue includes three limited edition plush dogs for the holidays, inspired by real rescue stories. Rocky, Madison, and Tyson all found their way to their forever homes through the OSPCA, and now their namesakes are helping to raise funds to help other animals in need. Each puchase includes a personalised adoption certificate, plush toy, and a personalised card. New plush will be added in 2015, so you can start a collection now. Rocky and friends are $40 each, or you can add one to a symbolic gift choice for just $20.

The symbolic gifts include a huge number of choices across four categories: Rescue & Relief; Animal Welfare; Shelter, Health & Wellness; and Areas of Greates Need. You can purchase needed rescue equipment, a holiday gift package for a cat or dog in shelter, contribute to a toll-free number for reporting animal cruelty, or provide care for any shelter animal. The OSPCA and the animals get the help they need, your gift recipient gets a lovely card letting them know you have made the donation in their name.
You can even provide care for a horse with a $100 gift.

How it Works

Giving is as easy as 1-2-3!

1. Select gifts from the online catalogue by browsing one of the departments: Rescue & Relief™, Animal Welfare or Shelter Health & Wellness. You can also choose to give the Gift of Greatest Need from within any department

2. Pay for your gifts online and receive a charitable tax receipt for your donation

3. Choose how you want to deliver your gift: by eCard, printable card or mail card

Cute, right?
