HGG2014: Nitro Grinders

This toy came out only in August this year in Canada, launching this month in the US. Nitro Grinders, from Tech 4 Kids, are collectible characters on wheels, kind of like the old school Weebles in that they wobble but never fall down, but totally different in their design and ability to do tricks. These guys jump, spin, grind and ride over obstacles, and would totally appeal to any skate boarding fan, or any elementary school boy, i.e., Boo.

Nitro Grinders are really simple to use and are available in packs of 1 or 2, or in sets with customizable wheels and ramps. Series 1 has 56 characters to collect, making them great for trading on the school yard. Each character belongs to one of five themes: Mechanimals, Wasteland, Elementals, Space Frontier, or the Metropolis collection, a Toys“R”Us exclusive.

The ramp sets retail for about $14.99 at Toys R Us, and the 2 packs are $6.99, making these amazing as stocking stuffers.

Check them out in action:

We have 4 of these little guys and I find them fun just to play with on my desk. The ramp kits are cool, but you can easily set up your own ramps and special obstacles with stuff you have at home. I particularly like the collectible aspect of these, as I know Boo and his friends love to play, compare and trade their small toys like these.

Skateboarding fan on your list? This is a cool gift for them. Lots of tricks and flips to be explored!
