Earlier this fall I had the chance to attend a holiday event with President's Choice. They were showcasing their amazing line of entertaining options, and I have to say that I left very full and very satisfied. Appetizers, cheese trays, mains, desserts, drinks, they have it all covered. But just now I want to highlight for you a few of my favourite appetizer choices that would make your holiday cocktail party the talk of the town!
Let's be clear - I adore hot wings. I do not adore a messy plate full of the leftover bones. These PC "Too Good to be Wings" chicken breast chunks are the answer. All the delicious wing taste, none of the awkward working around the bone, or wondering where you might dispose of it after. This makes them perfect for a cocktail party. Also, the taste is great. I tried the Butter Buffalo and it was a yummy mix of that classic wing flavour, with an Indian touch.
Here are a few more ideas for your freezer stash. Spring rolls always seem to be a hit when nibblies are passed around. PC's World of Flavours line brings some different options to mix it up a bit with choices like butter chicken and cheeseburger spring rolls. Or go Tex-Mex with Tortilla & Jalapeno Cheese Sticks to jazz up the classic mozza stick we often see. The tortilla gives a bit of crisp, and the jalapeno gives great flavour without too much heat. Have you experienced lobster macaroni & cheese yet? It is a hot hot hot trend this year, and oh so scrumptious. I've had it in take out boxes at a few events lately, and have even made it at home. (Would you like my recipe? I should share that soon.) President's Choice has now come out with a finger food version in their Lobster Mac 'N' Cheese Bites. All the goodness in a tidy package ready for your guests to just pop in their mouths.
Not all appetizers need to be hot. Be sure to have a variety of options available for your guests, including cheese or veggie trays and a selection of dips. These PC dips are are perfect with mini pita breads, corn chips, or crackers. And they are a nice healthy addition to the spread that may include a lot of sugar and fattier hot items as well. They are also great for your vegetarian friends. Olive tapenade is a favourite of mine, and adding it to the hummus is a great combination. A little salty, it's a wonderful combination with the classic chickpea and tahini dip.
What do you think? Have you tried any of these items yet? What do you like to serve as finger foods?
