Safe & Secure Online Shopping with Indigo and PayPal

The holiday gifting season may be over, but we are now full-on into birthday season in this family. Three of us celebrate in January. For reals. So I have more shopping to do, as I'm sure you do as well. Shopping, including gift shopping, is not just a seasonal occurrence, and I'm always looking for ways to make it less stressful. I'm not a natural shopper, and I am averse to crowds. This makes me a huge fan of online shopping (but you know that already), especially when the online checkout experience is made as simple and safe as possible.

How do I choose where to shop? Well, selection is of course key - the store has to carry the type of items I need. Then I look for some kind of rewards program, either an in-house set-up or a third party system. If I have the choice of purchasing an item from either of two stores, I will always pick the store that pays me back! The final piece of my puzzle is ease and security of checkout. If I can save my payment information in a profile, that's great. Even better for me is when I can checkout with my PayPal account, minimizing the number of places my credit card info is entered online.

With these criteria in mind, I do a lot of shopping at Indigo. They carry an excellent selection of toys, games, electronics, jewelry, and gifts in addition to books and e-reading options. Their Plum Rewards program earns me points on my purchases, which I can redeem for instant savings, plus, if I begin my visit at I can earn up to 5% back on my purchase. Cool! And now, they accept PayPal!!

I love seeing this button.
Shopping at is super easy because they have excellent search and filter options.  I know my guys and his friends love Minecraft, and I can click right into Minecraft Central from the brands list on the drop-down menu on the main page. But maybe Boo is invited to a birthday party for a girl in his class or a boy we don't know so well. I can use the sidebar to see "The Hottest Gifts by Age" or check out the "Top 50 Kids' Books." Easy peasy.

This year Boo has asked for a Kobo Arc for his birthday. He already uses his dad's old iPad, but he wants a tablet and e-reader of his very own.  I've been reading on Kobo for years now and am really happy with the performance of the devices, both for reading and surfing. And Indigo had a sale on, so even better!

Checking out with PayPal means I don't have to store my credit card information on the Indigo site, and don't have to go looking for my wallet to type it in each time either. I have both a credit card and bank account attached to my PayPal, plus I often have a balance there since I accept PayPal payments for sponsored content as well. Super easy and quick, plus it gives the added security of coverage under PayPal's Purchase Protection program - including shipping costs!!

There is now a lovely Kobo Arc hidden away for Boo's big day next week. When he goes back to school on Monday I'll pull it out, charge it up and load on some content for him. He'll be so excited!!!

If you're looking for your next great read, or something for your next gifting occasion (maybe something special for you?), head on over to Indigo and see what they have to offer. There are still great Boxing Day deals to be had!
