Do you remember the 1995 movie "12 Monkeys"? Time travel, a viral plague decimating the human race, apocalyptic mayhem. It's one of my science fiction favourites. Well, Shaw TV has picked up a version of this tale in a new series produced by Universal Cable Productions in association with Atlas Entertainment.
This TV version of "12 Monkeys" is inspired by the blockbuster film and explores the story of Cole (Aaron Stanford, Nikita, X-Men: The Last Stand, X2), a time traveller from a decimated future in a high-stakes race against the clock. Utilizing a dangerous and untested method of time travel, he journeys from 2043 to the present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will all but annihilate the human race.
Sounds familiar, right? This version will be less surreal than Terry Gilliam's original, but still fraught with moral dilemmas and mystery.
Here are a couple of sneak peeks:
Airing Fridays at 10pm ET/PT, beginning January 16, the first season of "12 Monkeys" presents 13 episodes of suspense and questions. Can we change the future? Or is fate set in stone? I'm interested to see how this version stands up against the original. Will you be watching?
Disclosure: This post has been brought to you by 12 Monkeys. Regardless, all opinions on this blog, as always, remain my own.
