All the Goodness of Honey - In Vitamin Form #‎honibebuzz‬

We had spaghetti the other night. Hubs and I had the delicious family recipe meat sauce (with hidden veggies!) on ours. Boo had butter and parmesan. It once again reminded me of what a terrible eater he has become. His medication is partly to blame of course, as it kills his appetite. But even before he started that he had begun travelling down the path of picky eating.

When he was a year old, you see, this spaghetti sauce was his favourite thing ever. It was his main source of red meat protein, and he gobbled it up. Naturally that really pleased his grandmother, since she was the one making it and sending it home with us in big freezer batches. He ate such a variety of things as a toddler. But somewhere along the way that changed. Now he'd eat plain pasta and hot dogs for every meal if we let him. But that's not such a good call. He is a growing boy after all and needs his nutrition. I keep reminding myself that I was just as picky as a kid (although my thing was mashed potatoes), and somehow I survived. What helped me then, and what helps him now - vitamin supplements.

I had chewables back in the day, but Boo now has the option of gummy vitamins. It's a great delivery system for kids, since they feel like they're eating special candies with their breakfast. Whatever works I say!

Recently we've both been trying out a new, Made in Canada multivitamin. These honibe honey gummies™ come from PEI (yay East Coast!), and have honey as the first ingredient. They boast 50% less refined sugar than other vitamin gummies, and are free of gluten, dairy, artificial colours or flavours, and preservatives. So, just the good stuff. Each vitamin contains a full day's worth of vitamins and minerals, as prescribed by Health Canada, so you only take one gummy each day. Your child may see this as a negative, since they are pretty tasty, but it will save you some cash. I did check my other vitamins, and they give either 2 or 4 as the daily dose, so with a comparable sized bottle at a comparable price, you're in some money.  honibe® gummies are sold on their website at $16.99 for a two month supply. I pay about $22 for a two month supply of our usual brand.

What did we think of the vitamins? Boo and I both like the taste and the texture. These are not hard or chewy, but just nice to sink your teeth into. They are a little sticky, as they are coated in beeswax. The only difficulty I had with that was in getting them out of the bottle. A couple of good shakes does the trick though. If I did have one suggestion for the company it would be to look at decreasing the size of the bottles. There's quite a lot of extra room, and I've become super conscious of packaging.

honibe® gummies are available in children's and adults complete multivitamin and complete + immune boost formulas, prenatal vitamins, and fruit & vegetable, so there are options to suit your needs. Best of all, they are tasty, Canadian-made, and filled with the natural goodness of honey.
