Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb {review}

If it’s laughter you’re after, get ready for the most hilarious night ever! Ben Stiller leads an all-star comedy cast, including Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, Rebel Wilson and Ricky Gervais, for one final, fun-filled Night at the Museum. This time, Larry Daley (Stiller) and his heroic friends embark on their greatest adventure yet as they travel to London in order to save the magic that brings the museum exhibits to life!

Confession: I've not actually seen the first two Night at the Museum movies. So maybe starting with the third (and final) wasn't the smartest move, but honestly it stands just fine on its own. Boo did have some questions about why certain characters were tiny, but we figured it out easily, in spite of missing the set-up in the earlier movies. Most importantly, we all laughed out butts off and were completely entertained.

Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb is available now on DVD and BluRay, and comes with tons of extras including deleted and extended scenes, plus improv. The improv comedy from this seriously funny and talented cast is itself worth the price of admission. The BluRay has additional features to the DVD, including a behind the scenes look at The British Museum, and a view into how the film’s iconic fight scene inside an M.C. Escher painting came to light. That scene might be my favourite in the movie. Escher has always fascinated me. You can also check out how Stiller got into character for his alter ego Laaa - a very funny feature.

Boo has now asked to see the first two movies in this franchise, so it's lucky for us that this BluRay comes with a bonus Digital HD movie – not only do you get a Digital HD version of NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: SECRET OF THE TOMB, but you also get a Bonus digital movie – your choice of one of the other movies in the franchise. So we are set to download the first film and see where the adventures all began.

Do we recommend? Definitely. Everyone in our brood enjoyed this movie and the extras on the disc. It's a great, laugh-out-loud treat for your next family movie night.

Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this movie for review purposes. All opinions on this blog, as always, remain my own or those of my family.
