But it has to be done, and it's important to have the right tools. Last year we replaced our washer and dryer, and I made a special effort to look for non-high efficiency models so I wouldn't have to worry about the type of detergent and fabric softener I used. Turns out that the model I chose is indeed HE, although it didn't say so in the description (remember - I shop online, so never met this pair in person before they were unboxed in my basement.) Was I ever happy to learn that my beloved Tide Pods and Downy were in fact HE compatible! I also felt like a bit of a dope for not realising. Ah well. It all worked out.
But now Tide has taken it one step further and developed a special formulation specifically for the new HE machines. Tide HE Turbo products can save time and energy thanks to new proprietary quick-collapsing Smart Suds technology. With HE Turbo Smart Suds, your laundry rinses clean without sending HE washers into additional rinse cycles that can add up to 25 minutes to a wash and waste up to 10 gallons of water. Tide HE Turbo products can be used in all washers, but are specially designed to maximize the energy and water saving benefits of HE machines. What’s more, Tide HE Turbo promises six times the cleaning power in half the time compared to regular detergents used in a HE washer. Tide HE Turbo is available at Walmart stores in Canada. The HE Turbo line includes liquid detergents with bleach alternatives or Febreze as well as a formulation specially for cold water washing.
To be honest, it was not easy to find a washing machine that was not high efficiency, so I imagine it won't be long before most Canadian households are using this technology. It makes sense to upgrade our laundry detergent along with our machines.
A GiveawayOne lucky Raising My Boys reader will receive a prize pack including Tide HE Turbo, plus a $50 Walmart gift card. Even you don't have an HE machine at home, the detergent is safe to use in a standard model. Entries are via the widget below and will be accepted until 12:00 midnight EDT, May 27. Giveaway is open to Canadian residents only. Best of luck!
