Hallowe'en with Hasbro

Hallowe'en is almost here! Are you excited? We decorated the yard yesterday, Boo has his costume, and I've got all the treats ready to give out on the big night. But not all my treats are of the edible variety.

For years now I've been careful to give out only nut-free chocolates and other "school-safe" edibles. I also try to have non food items available for any kids with other food allergies or sensitivities, or for anyone who would just prefer a toy. Because really - how much chocolate, candies and chips does one kid need? (Don't answer that!) Hasbro has some fun options you can offer to the trick or treaters at your door.

First off, check out the Play-Doh Hallowe'en Bag. Each bag contains 15 "snack-size" tubs of Play-Doh, perfect for trick or treat. MSRP $6.99. Get the treat without the sweet!

Hasbro's blind bags are another great treat to hand out. They are available in Transformers Tiny Titans (MSRP $2.99) and My Little Pony (MSRP $3.99) versions. Each bag includes a miniature figure along with a collector's card. We had a look at the Transformers bags, and noted that each card can be scanned into the Transformers app for enhanced game play. These are a higher price point, and likely won't meet the needs of anyone with 80-100 kids visiting them (like us!) But if you are in a smaller area, or if there are particular neighbourhood friends you'd like to give a special treat, you will be winning at Hallowe'en with these!

Boo did an unboxing video if you'd like to see his reactions:

And on the decorating side, if you are looking for a no-carve idea for your pumpkins, check out the DohVinci Hallowe'en Kit. This kit comes with a Styler Tool, 4 DecoPop colours, and 3 templates to inspire your creations. With no carving and very little mess this is a great approach to take with young kids who want to get involved with their jack o'lanterns. The templates include a scary face, a Frankenstein's monster, and a spider web with spider. But of course you can always go free-hand and create your own! The DohVinci kits are easy to use and Boo & I had a lot of fun creating our design. MSRP $9.99.

So, tell me about your plans. Do you give out candy, chips, toys? Do you dress up for the occasion? Whatever you do (or don't do) for Hallowe'en, I hope you have a fun and safe night!

Disclosure: We received complimentary review product from Hasbro. All opinions on this blog, as always, remain my own, or those of my family.
