Protect Your Footwear Investment with Tana #TanaLovesShoes

I'm not the easiest on my footwear, but I try my best to take good care of the pieces I buy. Especially when I decide to make the investment in a good pair of shoes or boots - I want them to last more than a couple of seasons! Partly because I only buy things I love, and partly because I seriously hate wasting money. So, I am one of those people who have always relied on Tana products, specifically the All Protector, to shield my footwear from the elements and prolong the life of my shoes and boots.

Sadly, this year I did need to replace my black boots. They've given excellent service for a good few years, but the heels were wearing down and one of the zippers broke. Off I went to meet Jessie at Stance at the Upper Canada Mall to see what we could find. And we found A LOT.

I have super-small feet, but Jessie was super helpful and dutifully checked for tiny versions of all the boots I coveted. And there were many. Heels and flats, with and without adornment, I gave many boots a chance.

I adored that first pair; they had a real menswear feel to them and were so fun with the animal print and metallic accents. But they were too big. The Doc Marten's are a great casual option, but too flat for me. In the end I opted for the pair in the middle - black suede wedges by Tom's. These are my third pair of Tom's now. I love how comfortable everything they make is. And the quality is great.

Of course, if I want to keep these cute boots looking great, I have to look after them. Enter Tana. I could use Tana All Protector - it's a versatile option you can use on almost any footwear (except patent, metallics, and vinyl) - but I went with the custom solution and applied a generous coat of Tana's Suede & Nubuck Protector. This provides an invisible coating to repel water and prevent stains. So yes, I can wear my suede boots in our miserable November weather and beyond. Tana recommends re-applying the Protector every 8-10 wearings. And, before protecting again, I'll be sure to clean off any dirt and grime that has attached itself with Tana's Suede & Nubuck Cleaner. It not only cleans, but conditions and restores nap when you use the can's brush cap.

Jessie helped me to choose the right Tana products for my new boots, and she also introduced me to an insole I hadn't met before. It's the Barefoot Insoles, and they are specifically designed to keep your shoes fresh when you refuse to wear socks, like I do. For some this would be a summer-only item (especially in your Tom's!), but I avoid socks year-round, so I grabbed a pair of these too. They have a special terry cloth layer to help keep feet dry, and anitbacterial agents and tiny perforations for breathability to keep feet & shoes fresh. Plus, they provide impact absorbing latex foam cushioning for extra comfort, and they are washable in the washing machine. Just keep them out of the dryer.

So my new black boots are extra comfy and well-protected from the elements. I gave them a test run in NYC last week, walking around the Times Square neighbourhood for a couple of hours. And it rained. My feet didn't hurt and didn't get wet. And the boots never looked better!
