Habitat for Humanity GTA's Gingerbread Build #PGMom

It's time once again for Habitat for Humanity GTA's Gingerbread Build, and Bounty is proud to be back as the presenting sponsor. This year the build will take place at two locations, allowing many more families to join in the fun! In Markham, families will meet at the Varley Art Gallery (216 Main St., Unionville), on December 5. The Toronto event will take place at the Ontario Science Centre (770 Don Mills Rd.) over two days - December 12 and 13.

Boo and I had a really fun time at this event last year. We were at the Science Centre location and enjoyed visiting with Santa Claus, sipping hot chocolate, and decorating our house. There were raffle draws and extra candies for sale, and a whole pile of giggles and mess (hello Bounty towels!)

It's easy to get involved. Gingerbread house kits cost $50 each and include everything you need to decorate an awesome and edible house to take home. Each $50 kit comes with a $25 tax receipt. Note: If attending the Toronto event, Ontario Science Centre admission tickets are not required, but a 20% discount is provided to those wishing to visit the exhibits after their build. Free parking is provided for the Gingerbread Build. To visit other sections of the OSC, you are required to move your vehicle to the paid parking lot at a discounted Habitat rate of $5. (Parking in the special lot is a little limited and they need to make room for the next build shift.)

If you are not able to attend an event, you can order a take-away kit to make your gingerbread creation at home (pick up at one of Habitat GTA's offices - Brampton Caledon, Newmarket or East Toronto), or purchase a kit to be sent to a family living in a local shelter this holiday season. What a great way to spread a little joy! Check out the Gingerbread Build website for all the details.

I love this event because building gingerbread houses is such a fun holiday activity for both kids and grown-ups, and this is a wonderful thing to enjoy together as a family. Boo is too young to join me on an actual Habitat build site (you have to be 16), but he can help me help others by building one of these houses. Best of all, 100% of proceeds from the Gingerbread Build go to building homes for families in need in the GTA. This cause is so close to my heart, and I hope you will consider getting involved, or sharing this event with your friends and families!
