My junior reviewer always makes sure I include the newest from Nerf in my gift guide. He and his friends are all big fans, as I imagine are many of the young boys on your gift lists. This year, Boo is particularly excited for the Nerf Modulus line-up. Just as it sounds, this is a modular system, allowing you to create different combinations and upgrade your weapon to suit your needs for that particular battle or stealth situation.
The base component is the N-Strike Modulus ECS-10 Blaster. This motorised blaster has a dual rail system on the barrel for adding extras, and it can be reconfigured in more than 30 combinations. Boo likes that it has a targeting scope - very important on his list. The blaster comes with a clip containing 10 foam darts, but you can expand with a Flip-Clip Upgrade Kit, which holds 24. ECS-10 fires darts up to 90 feet (Requires 4 AA batteries, not included)
Long Range Upgrade Kit, which comes with a distance scope, longer barrel, and a bipod to help steady you shot.
Or maybe you're into spy games and sneak attacks? The Stealth Ops Upgrade adds a Red Dot Sight and a Proximity Barrel for precision targeting and a Pivot Grip for a steadier shot.
Then there's also the Strike and Defend Upgrade, with a blaster stock for a steadier shots and blast shield to protect your face.
This is a great system because it allows for creativity and individual choices. Kids can make the blaster look and operate the way they want, and change it up for a new mood the next day. As well, it's one of those gifts that makes the next occasion a little easier - just pick up an upgrade and you know you'll have a hit on your hands!
The Nerf N-Strike Modulus system is recommended for ages 8 and up. It's a lot of fun, and comes highly recommended by 9 year-old Boo.
