Great Bag, Great Cause - Net Effects Traders {Review}

I was trying to make some sense of my closet the other day, and pulling items to donate or consign. One thing that stood out to me - I have a lot of purses. Like, a lot. I don't necessarily use them all anymore, and I did grab a couple for consignment, but I guess I have a thing for a nice bag. And they all have an occasion or season where they are the perfect choice. I think it's important for a girl to have choices :)

My current bag is a cute, apple green cross-body from Net Effects Traders. Full disclosure - they asked me to choose one of their bags for review and this one just spoke to me. First off - it's available in my favourite colour, and second, the size and shape seemed like a good bet for a casual summer bag.

Net Effects is a woman-run company that has partnered with the organisation Peace Handicrafts to provide training, secure employment and fair wages to physically challenged and disenfranchised Cambodian women. These jobs provide the women with independence, dignity and the ability to care for their families. You can read some of their stories on the Net Effects website.

The social enterprise goes further, with a portion of every sale going to Nothing But Nets, an international organization providing mosquito nets to a families in need. Plus, the bags are made using remnants and end pieces of agricultural and industrial netting, in support of the company's commitment to zero waste. Love it!

And I love my bag. The Moxie is a great, slim design with multiple pockets and zippered compartments. I was hesitant at first, wondering if all my stuff would fit, but it works! The slant-cut pockets on the front not only look great but provide a perfect spot to stow my tablet for easy access. There's an outer, large, zip pocket on the back, and a small, inner zip as well. In addition to the two outer pockets, there are two inside as well, perfect for cell phones and business cards. It's all quite roomy. And the bag has an overall shimmer to it that I really like - very pretty.

The cross-body strap is adjustable for maximum comfort. I have noticed that it can be a bit scratchy against my bare skin though, especially after being out in the sun.

The bag is very sturdy and really well constructed. I am surprised at how much it holds, and expect it to be very durable. It comes in your choice of 9 colours, and retails for $87. Shipping is free, and they accept Paypal as well as major credit cards.

Net Effects offers a great range of products, from wallets and tablet sleeves to totes and a weekend bag. They do custom and branded work as well. Check out their site for all the details, or connect with them on social - Twitter, Facebook, Instagram
