Taste of Lawrence FestivalFriday, July 8, through Sunday, July 10
This annual event, hosted by the Wexford Heights BIA, may not be as big as Taste of the Danforth, but I find it much more enjoyable - likely because of the manageable size. The Taste of Lawrence Festival opens at 6pm Friday, and takes place on Lawrence Ave. E. from Warden to Birchmount. There's tons of live entertainment on two stages, a midway, rides, vendors, and best of all (in my opinion) - a huge variety of international food options. I like to eat my way through each year. Taste of Lawrence iss Scarborough's largest street Festival and draws over 100,000 visitors each year.
Free Friday Night MovieFriday, July 8
Councillor Glenn De Baeremaeker is hosting a series free Friday Night Movies in the Park throughout July. The first will be held July 8, in North Bendale Park, starting at dusk. They'll be showing "The Peanuts Movie." Bring your lawn chair, blanket, and snacks, meet your neighbours, and enjoy a family-friendly movie under the stars.
SummerliciousSummerlicious is back and we have 2 Scarborough restaurants taking part - Borsalino, on Sheppard at McCowan, and Sagano, in the Delta Toronto East, Kennedy/401. I haven't been to Borsalino, but Hubs and I have celebrated a couple of anniversaries at Sagano, and I can highly recommend it. I also just think it's great to have restaurants this far from the downtown "foodie" core taking part in this event. Scarborough has amazing spots for a great meal!
And I have to mention the City of Toronto's Annual Mega Pet Adoption Event. This is happening nowhere near Scarborough, but is always near to my heart. The event takes place at the Queen Elizabeth Building at Exhibition Place, from 10am-6pm, July 8 & 9.
Sponsored by the Bissell Pet Foundation, adoption fees are only $25 during this event! Isn't it time to meet your new best friend? They have set a goal of adopting out 500 pets this weekend, so if you've been thinking of bringing a new furry friend into your life, this is a great opportunity!
