#HGG2017: Give A Gift of Experience with

Whether you have a particularly difficult to buy for person on your gift list, "the man who has everything" type, or not, it can sometimes be a struggle to find the perfect gift, in the right budget, that you know they don't already have, etc. Instead of giving a traditional gift, why not consider giving the gift of an experience? offers a variety of experiential gifts that can be redeemed and enjoyed across Canada. The offerings range from the expected - spa packages, golf games, and restaurant gift certificates - to the more unexpected - cooking classes, chef prepared dinners at home, limousine service, or paintball sessions. I like to give and receive experiential gifts because they are enjoyable, consumable, and create great memories. Plus, your recipient gets to enjoy them twice - when they open their gift, and then again when they actually redeem and enjoy it. That's a bonus. These gifts are also easy to send to friends and family living in other parts of Canada; buy online and have the electronic certificate sent directly to them. Perfect for last minute gifts!!

Here are just a handful of ideas.

For the bakers on your list:

Macaron 101 Baking Class

This experience is local to Calgary and includes a hands-on lesson in baking delicious macarons, with, of course a box of 30 or so to take home. Sample a variety during the class while sipping tea and learning about the history of this sweet treat. It's a 2-2.5 hour class for $100.

For the couple:

Date Night Dinner for Two

Available in the GTA and Durham regions in Ontario, and provided by private chef company Memorable Moments. Your recipients will consult with the chef to plan the menu, then he/she will prepare and serve a 4 course meal for them in their home, and clean up afterwards. $195

For the tween/teen (or kid at heart!):

Battle Sports Archery Dodgeball

It's pretty much exactly what it sounds like. But don't worry - these arrows are foam-tipped. Located in Toronto, Battle Sports offers a range of activities for which you can buy certificates via This package provides a 90 minute session (30 minutes training + 60 minutes of missions), plus all safety equipment and gear, for $25. Guests must be 12 or over.

For your holiday party:

Clearwater Seafood Maritime Lobster Party

As an East Coast girl, I had to include this one. Fresh lobster, shipped across Canada from Nova Scotia. For $290 you will receive 10 live lobsters (approx. 1.5lb each), fresh from the sea, plus the picks, bibs, and crackers needed to eat them, and the instructions to properly prepare them. Delicious!

Now, if none of these options are catching your fancy, don't worry. There are over 500 experiences available on the website, starting from $15. Spa gift certificates are always a hit with me, and likely will please any gal on your lists. Or give the gift of a clean home with a $50 or $100 gift certificate for Merry Maids.

Head on over to and start browsing!

Disclosure: offered me an experience of my choice, so I could try out their services. No financial compensation was received. I did get a lovely spa day at Lavish in Whitby. More on that to come! All opinions on this blog, as always, remain my own, or those of my family.
